Tan Preparation

1. Plan ahead. Which day are you needing your tan for? Book your spray tan for the day or two before this.Exfoliation is very important! If you haven't exfoliated in awhile, make sure you do every couple of days, Pay special attention to feet, ankles, knees, elbows as these areas tend to be drier and may ‘grab’ too much tan.

2. Hair removal must be done prior to tanning.shave 24 hours before, was 48hrs before.

3. Do not moisturise your body, or apply deodorant, wear makeup or perfume to your tanning session. These cause a barrier on the skin hindering development of full colour potential. You may moisturise your face, elbows, knees and feet if you find you are quite dry in those areas. This will assist the tan to not grab too much on those areas.

4. Wear whatever you feel most comfortable in. Most women wear a g-string, full brief or go nude.

5. Wear loose, dark clothing after tanning. No tight clothing, closed in shoes or boots.Jewellery will have to be removed and a bra cannot be put back on. These items rub on the tan and the outcome is an uneven result.

After Tan Care

1. Do not shower for 1-3 or 6-8hours depending on solution used. Your spray tan technician will provide you with aftercare advise.that is personalised for you

2. Do not undertake activities that will cause you to sweat as This will affect the result of your tan.

3. Moisturise twice daily. This promotes a longer lasting tan and enables tan to fade evenly.We recommend Using Bronzing Custard every second day, alternating with Body Frosting to prolong the life of your tan and to keep your tan dark!

4. Avoid activities that naturally exfoliate your skin. This includes long baths, shaving too often, rubbing with a towel (pat dry only) Chlorinated pools bleach your tan.

5. Sit on a towel and not directly onto furniture after your tanning session.

6. Dont use lotions with Alpha Hydroxyl Acids (AHA's) or Glycolic Acid. Their purpose is to promote exfoliation to reveal new skin

Q. How Does Spray Tanning Work?
A. Dihydroxyacetone, also known as DHA, is the active ingredient used in spray tanning and self tanning products. It is a result of raw sugar cane fermentation with glycerine which causes a chemical reaction with the amino acids in the surface cells of the skin causing a tanned effect as it develops over time. It is a non-toxic ingredient and has been approved by the US FDA for use in cosmetics.

Dihydroxyacetone does not cause any damage to the skin or your health, as it only interacts with the stratum corneum - the uppermost layer of the skin. The tan disappears gradually as the stratum corneum sheds its dead cells.

Applying the tan will only take 5 mins and the drying time is a further 5-10 mins. You will immediately have a gorgeous tan!. You will experience an instant tan produced by the bronzer. This is not your tan. Within1-3 hours or 8 - 12 hours (depending which solution is used) you will develop a beautiful tan which continues to intensify over the next 12-24 hours.

Q.what to expect?
A. For your first appointment with Elite tanning, please allow around 30 minutes. This will allow time for one of our trained professionals to provide a consulatation which will allow understand your needs and help us to determine which solution is suitable for your skin type.

Your elite spray tan will be preformed either Using our pop up tent or we can spray you standing in the shower. The tan simply washes off the shower, we will make sure it is clean before we leave.

Q. How long will my spray tan last?
A. On average your tan should last between 7-10 days depending on how you prepare and care for your tan. Please read our tan preperation.

Q. What should I wear?
A. you should wear whatever you feel comfortable in. This can be nothing, a g-string or underwear, it is entirely up to you. We can provide you with disposable g-strings if you wish.

After your tan we recommend dark lose fitting clothes for the 1st few hours. Wearing loose clothing will allow your tan to fully develop evenly.

Q. Should I shave or wax before or after my tan?
A. Shaving and waxing is recommended 1 day before your tanning appointment and at least 2 days for waxing. Shaving is like exfoliating and will lighten your tan.

Q. Will it stain my hair?
A. No. At elite tanning we provide you with a disposable shower cap to wear whilst you are being sprayed.
